Coffee stand brothels Java Juggs, Twin Peaks destroyed by city (PHOTOS)

EVERETT -- Two bikini coffee stands that formerly served as clandestine drive-through brothels were torn down Wednesday.

Java Juggs and Twin Peaks -- both on Highway 99 in Everett-- were torn to the ground.

The stands were owned by the City of Everett after Carmela Panico, the former owner, admitted to using them to sell sex out the doors.

Initially, the city planned to sell the stands to "responsible owners," Everett spokeswoman Meghan Pembroke said. But the businesses weren't up to code, the Everett Herald reported, and the city recently came to the decision to tear them down, instead.

The city previously estimated each coffee stand was worth $3,000 to $8,000.

The city will soon consider new rules for coffee stands operating in Everett, Pembroke said, and the future of bikini barista stands in Everett remains unclear.

Three other stands still owned by the city could still be sold.
