Man burned in boat explosion on Puget Sound



NEAR SHELTON, Wash. -- One person was hurt when a boat exploded Saturday morning near Arcadia Point.

According to the Mason County Sheriff's Office, a 22-foot boat exploded about 50-feet from the dock at Arcadia Point shortly after 11:00 a.m.

Officials said a 20-year-old man suffered second degree burns to his hands, face and back. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Firefighters, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Ecology responded to the scene.

Investigators said it was too soon to determine the cause of the explosion. No further information was immediately available.
