911 call leads to stolen car containing 'trove' of cell phones, apparent stolen mail

SEATTLE -- A 911 call about a suspicious car sitting in the driveway of an abandoned home in the Montlake neighborhood led police Monday to recover a stolen car and "a trove" of cell phones and apparent stolen mail in the trunk, police said Monday.

A 19-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were sitting in the car when officers arrived Monday morning, police said.

Detectives from the Seattle Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force took nine cell phones and what appears to be stolen mail from inside the vehicle.

"Detectives interviewed both individuals and have placed the 19-year-old under arrest on charges associated with the stolen car as well as an outstanding felony warrant," police wrote on their blotter. "The 23-year-old woman, who was in the passenger seat, and is cooperating with investigators, has been released at this point in the investigation."

The 19-year-old man was booked into King County Jail, where he awaits charging.
