TACOMA — A registered sex offender wearing nothing but his GPS ankle bracelet tried to rape a foot masseuse at a Lakewood business on Halloween, police said Thursday.

Samuel Dupree Sparks, 30, was arrested Wednesday and charged Thursday in Pierce County Superior Court with first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation, second-degree rape and attempted indecent liberties.

He pleaded not guilty. He was ordered held in Pierce Council Jail without bail.

According to the court documents, Lakewood police were called to the Imperial Foot Massage business  at 9205 S. Tacoma Way in Lakewood, where the employer said a masseuse was attacked by a naked customer and showed police the surveillance video on Oct. 31.

The employer said the customer asked for a full-body massage and was escorted to a back room. The victim, identified in court documents as L.Z., went to the room and saw the defendant was completely nude. As she handed the customer a towel to cover himself, he grabbed her and forced her onto the massage table, police said in court documents.

She broke free and ran from the room. The suspect, still naked, chased her and forced her back into the room. She was able to break free again and hid under the suspect left the business.

The video showed the defendant was wearing an ankle bracelet, so photos were distributed to law enforcement agencies. A Department of Corrections officer identified the suspect as Sparks, saying he is still under DOC supervision as a registered sex offender, failed to report on Wednesday and is wearing a GPS ankle bracelet.

Police located Sparks through the GPS bracelet and booked him into jail

Sparks was released from the Pierce County Jail on July 21 and has prior convictions for first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation and indecent liberties with forcible compulsion.
