Child rape, molestation charges filed against local Aberdeen volunteer, community activist

MONTESANO, Wash. -- Child rape and molestation charges were filed Monday against a local Aberdeen volunteer and community activist for allegedly sexually abusing two children.

Gregory Brian Johnson, 48, founder of a volunteer group in Aberdeen called The Gregorian Group, is being held in the Grays Harbor County Jail on $150,000. He was arrested Friday.

The Grays Harbor prosecutor filed two counts of second-degree child rape and two counts of first-degree child molestation against Johnson.

Aberdeen police told KBKW Radio an investigation was opened three weeks ago after a 23-year-old Elma woman filed a complaint.

According to court documents, the woman disclosed to a Child Advocacy Center worker that she had been raped by Johnson on numerous occasions from the time she was 9 until she was 16 in various residences in Cheney, Kennewick and Aberdeen.

During the course of the investigation, the documents said, an 11-year-old boy said Johnson had had touched him inappropriately.

On Friday, the 23-year-old woman who filed the complaint was outfitted with a police recording device and confronted Johnson, who, according to the documents, admitted to her that he had raped her when and that it was his own fault, that he was in a "bad place" back then.

Johnson's arraignment is scheduled for Nov. 10.
