WATCH: Rescue crews work with new, battery operated life-saving device

PIERCE COUNTY -- Firefighters from Central Pierce Fire and Rescue trained recently with a new battery-powered "Jaws of Life."

It's the tool used to cut crumpled cars, so crews can rescue people trapped inside. Firefighters say the new tool is stronger, lighter and easier to handle. That means they can get to victims faster.

The new tool will also save space, so crews can now have room for other life-saving equipment.
