Investigators: Fort Lewis mother chatted about 'disgusting' dismembering fantasies, traded child porn online

FORT LEWIS -- A local mother faces criminal charges after child porn and graphic conversations describing fantasies of child rape and dismemberment were allegedly found on her computer.

Sarah Wales was charged with three counts of distributing child pornography and one count of possessing child porn earlier this month in U.S. District Court. Wales, who spent time in Fort Lewis, was arrested recently in Spokane following a lengthy investigation.

According to court documents, Seattle police investigators were tipped off to Wales by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in June 2013 after she was discovered in online chat rooms discussing sex abuse and trading child pornography.

Fearing she was harming children, investigators looked further into her online messages.  Wales, under the user name "kinkchick25," frequently discussed graphic sexual acts with other users in multiple chat rooms, and even talked about fantasies of dismembering children as young as 7 years old, court documents show. She also allegedly exchanged images and videos of child pornography on multiple occassions.

When police contacted Wales on July 26, 2013 at her Fort Lewis home, she allegedly admitted to the chat room conversations, but said they were "strictly role playing" and "disgusting" fantasies, court documents show.  Wales allegedly admitted to trading child pornography with other members of her chats, but denied manufacturing any of the photos herself, and never posted pictures of her children.

Court documents show no evidence of Wales harming her own children.

Investigators said Wales admitted to keeping between 50-75 images and about six videos of child pornography.

After more investigation, Wales was arrested earlier this month in Spokane. She will appear in front of a U.S. District judge soon.

Wales lived in Fort Lewis because her husband was deployed there, documents show.
