Man in crosswalk hit by car was nearly struck multiple times, police say

EVERETT -- Police are investigating after a man pushing a cart was struck by a car Tuesday morning in an unmarked crosswalk.

According to the Everett Police Department, a 69-year-old man was crossing an unmarked crosswalk in the 11800 block of Evergreen Way when he was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound. The man was nearly struck by several other cars, police said, but they were able to avoid him.

The man sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Harborview Medical Center, police said.

The vehicle's driver stayed at the scene following the crash and cooperated with police. Drugs, speed or alcohol are not believed to be factors at this time, police said.

Several southbound lanes of Evergreen Way were closed following the incident but have since reopened, police said.
