Person of interest in Port Angeles murder turns himself in

PORT ANGELES, Wash. - A person of interest in the murder of a 65-year-old woman found slain in a Port Angeles RV park turned himself in Thursday morning, police said.

Joel Kevin Brown voluntarily surrendered to the Port Angeles Department of Corrections at 8 a.m., police said. Officers said he is cooperating with the investigation into the death of Diane Cunningham, found killed in the Salt Creek RV park.

Detectives found Cunningham's body Monday. Police believe she was killed by blunt-force trauma to the head.

Investigators received information that her missing car had been located in a remote area of Malheur County, Oregon, on the border with Idaho, the sheriff’s office said. A hunter found the car and reported it to the local sheriff.

Brow has a previous warrant out for his arrest. However, he is not currently a suspect in this case, and police were simply hoping to question him, officers said.

Anyone with information about the possible murder is encouraged to call the Clallam County Sheriff's Office tip line at 360-417-2305.
