CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN -- Crystal Mountain received it's first trace of snow in the early morning hours Tuesday.

An employee working on the construction of the new High Campbell chairlift snapped these pictures early Tuesday at the top of Powder Bowl, the resort said.

The temperature dropped to 30 degrees overnight at the top of the mountain, and up to an inch of snow could be seen at the 6,800-foot elevation, the resort said.

Last year, Crystal Mountain opened for 100 lucky skiers and snowboarders on Oct. 1.  That was the earliest opening in the resort's history.  Opening day for the 2014/15 season is still to be determined.  A minimum of two feet of snow is necessary before the resort can open, the resort said.
