Sheriff: One dead in officer-involved shooting in Puyallup



PUYALLUP -- A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in a Puyallup area parking lot Tuesday morning, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said.

According to sheriff's deputies, officers responded to calls of a suicidal subject in a vehicle around 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 16400 block of Meridian Avenue in South Hill.

Exact details of the incident were not immediately known, but deputies said the man may have shot himself in his truck once officers had arrived. Deputies also fired at the subject, officers said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and deputies are investigating.
