Stolen dog returned to Tacoma man after Q13 FOX News report

UPDATE:  The dog's owner says Mung Mung was returned after someone saw this story on Q13 FOX News late Friday night.

TACOMA -- A Tacoma man is pleading for his dog's safe return after someone broke into his home earlier this week and took his 6-month-old shih tzu named Mung Mung.

Steven Chan said a burglar took three samurai swords from his home -- and his beloved pet.

"Just cheap stuff," he said of the other missing items. "Why couldn't they take other things from the house? And I know my baby, she never runs out, especially in the rain."

Although Mung Mung is not a registered service dog, Steven says she helped him every day.

"When my blood pressure drops, she`ll come and lick me so I know ahead of time or when my sugar level is too low, she`ll come to me. She`s not a real medical dog but to me she is," he said.

"I play with her all day, every day, she's the cutest thing I have ever seen or had, and for someone to take her from me is just not right."

Steven pleaded to the burglar to return his dog.

"Just bring her back to me, please," Steven said. "If you wanted a puppy for yourself, I'll get you one. I'll buy it for you, whatever you want. I just want my baby back. Just bring her back to me -- please."

Mung Mung has white hair on her body, brown and black face and distinctive two-tone lips -- one is pink and one is black. And she has a scar on her stomach from a surgery last week, Steven said.
