Raucous party at high school greenhouse nets arrests of suspects as young as 12

TUMWATER -- A group of partiers -- some as young as 12 -- broke into a high school greenhouse to smoke pot and drink booze early Sunday morning, police said, before being caught by officers.

According to Tumwater Police Detective Jen Kolb, officers received a complaint of noises coming from the high school greenhouse just after 12 a.m. Sunday morning.

An officer called to check out the scene found seven individuals inside the greenhouse, allegedly smoking pot and drinking from large bottles of whiskey and vodka. The  seven individuals -- ranging in ages from 12 to 26 -- had hopped over the fence, police said, and unlocked the greenhouse door.

Police arrested the seven individuals and also drove to the home of two more young adults who were suspected to be at the party before police arrived. All nine were booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary.

At least one of the suspects is a student at Tumwater High School, Kolb said.

It was unknown if the greenhouse or plants suffered any damage during the party. Kolb said this was the first time she has heard of anyone breaking into the high school greenhouse to drink and smoke weed.
