Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound fighting identity theft with annual 'Shred-a-Thon'

It's called a ‘Shred-a-Thon”, and it's helping fight identity theft. On Saturday, October 4th, Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound, Shred-it, and Fast Signs Bellevue are sponsoring the event at four different locations:

"Identity theft is one of the leading crimes in America,” says Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound. “One of the things we're trying to accomplish at the 'Shred-a-Thon', is to have people bring all their documents that could lead to them being the victim of identity theft. We're going to have onsite a huge shredder. You bring your items there and they’re going to shred it right there so you know they're shredded, and that'll keep them out of the hands of the people that are trying to steal your identity and cause you to be a victim of crime."
