SEATTLE — Police were searching for a gunman suspected of shooting two people Friday afternoon in Rainier Valley.

Police first received reports of shots fired around 2:00 p.m. Officers said they caught up with a car that was speeding away from the Rainier Beach neighborhood and found two men with gunshot wounds inside.

Officials said they were blocking traffic in the 4400 block of S. Othello Street for the investigation.

Medics said the two men suffered non life-threatening injuries. One man was shot in the leg and the other in the foot. Both were in their late teens or early 20s, police said.

Investigators said the two men were “reluctant” to provide officers with information. Detective believe the shooting happened in the 9100 block of Rainier Avenue South.

Police worked with the Seattle School district to lock down Rainier Beach High School, South Lake High School, SouthShore K-8 and Dunlap Elementary. The lockdown was expected to be lifted at the end of the school day.
