Tacoma man shot and killed outside afterhours club

TACOMA -- A killer is on the loose in Tacoma and police are trying to find him.

The shooting happened just before four Sunday morning near the corner of South 39th and Yakima in the Lincoln District.

"I heard five shots, thought nothing of it. We've heard them before,” witness Krissa Anderson said.

Then came more gunshots.

"There were three sets of gunshots. There was six the first time, three the second time and five the third time and they had about five or six second span in between them,” witness Jennifer said.

When the shooting was over one man lay gravely injured in the middle of the street.

"I came out here and he was on the ground. He was still alive at that point, when the ambulance showed up. They did CPR and he passed away,” the witness said.

Several cars were riddled with bullets and witnesses say they saw three cars speed away.

Right now police don't know what led to the shooting or if there was just one shooter or more.

Neighbors believe the problem behind the violence, is an afterhours club that opened about six months ago.

“Rowdy, every weekend, lots and lots people roaming these streets so it's kind of sad but most of my neighbors would say it was probably inevitable,” the witness said.

"We've had problems six months now with this after hours club; three o'clock in the morning, music blaring,” Anderson said.

"A lot of these guys like too shoot their guns into the air. They like to speed up and down the street. There's lots of fights and screaming on Friday and Saturday nights, so,” The witness said.

A store right across the street has a sophisticated security system and one of the cameras points in the exact area where the shooting happened.
