Kirkland's Houghton Beach Park swimming area closed due to high bacteria levels

KIRKLAND -- The swimming area at Kirkland's Houghton Beach Park has been closed because of a high level of bacteria in the water, the city said Friday.

Test samples on Thursday exceeded the bacteria threshold, making the swimming area potentially unsafe for swimming or wading.

Sampling  of the water will be conducted again on Monday, with results being issued by noon Tuesday.  Closure signs have been posted on the beach.

Beach updates will be posted on the City’s Twitter (@kirklandgov) and Facebook (Kirkland WA Government) sites.
