45-year-old Port Orchard motorcyclist killed in accident on SR 160

PORT ORCHARD -- A 45-year-old Port Orchard motorcyclist was killed Friday on State Route 160 when he attempted to pass a westbound motor home and crashed into a small SUV that was turning left onto Anderbar Road, about 4 miles east of Port Orchard, the Washington State Patrol said.

The man's identification was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the car the motorcyclist hit and a 12-year-old boy were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The State Patrol said the motorcyclist was westbound on SR 160. He attempted to pass a motor home in front of him, but apparently didn't realize a westbound Honda CRV ahead of the motor home was turning left onto Anderbar Road and was in the eastbound lane. The motorcycle crashed into the CRV.

The State Patrol listed the cause of the accident as "unsafe passing."
