NFL WEEK: 5K and fun run kickoff week of events ahead of Seahawks vs. Packers game

SEATTLE -- The 2014 NFL Kickoff Run and PLAY 60 fun runs Monday at CenturyLink Field signified the start to a week of events in Seattle to celebrate the return of football and the champion Seattle Seahawks.

More than 4,000 people lined up for Monday's races, which started on Occidental Avenue just outside of the stadium. The 5K was matched alongside a half-mile fun run for kids ages 6-12 as part of the NFL's program encouraging kids to be active.

The races were the official kickoff to a week of events in the Seattle area to celebrate football kickoff:

NFL Gameday Village 

NFL Gameday Village will be open to fans from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. 5:15 p.m. Thursday in Pioneer Square. The fan zone is free and open to the public.

NFL Youth Zone at Gameday Village 

The youth village is open from open the same time as the Gameday Village. Bringing young fans closer to the NFL, the block features an on-field NFL PLAY 60 obstacle course and ball pit.

NFL-United Way NFL Kickoff Community Event

The NFL, United Way and the National Dairy Council will host a bevy of community service projects from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3

2014 NFL Kickoff presented by XBOX Concert 

Pharrell Williams, Soundgarden and others will hold a free performance at  the North Lot of CenturyLink Field on Sept. 4 ahead of the Seahawks vs. Packers game. Access to the general public is first come, first served. Seahawks ticket holders are encouraged to arrive early and watch the concert from inside the stadium.
