WATCH: Local artist paints with a credit card!

PORT ANGELES -- Coming up next month, 32 artists from around the country and British Columbia will gather on the Olympic Peninsula for "Paint the Peninsula" for the Plein Air art competition.

For several days between  September 8th and the 14th, the artists will paint in outdoor locations all throughout the peninsula, and people can view the finished pieces (or purchase them!) at the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. You can even follow along with the artists throughout the week!

Sandy Byers is a local artist participating in the competition, and her technique is a little different: she paints with a credit card! She discovered she could do this by accident when she realized she had forgotten her brushes one day. Watch the video to see how she does it!

Sandy also has incredible technique WITH brushes- to see more of her work, go to www.sandybyers.com.

The event concludes with the Green Crow's Open Air Festival on Sunday September 14th from 11am - 3pm. This community celebration includes family-friendly events, like artist demonstrations, mural paintings, and food and drink.
