Ferry worker finds $3,160 in cash, does the right thing

MUKILTEO - What would YOU do if you found $3160 in cash scattered on the ground?

Temptation aside, most of us would do the the right thing. An alert, and honest Washington State Ferries worker found the cash at the Mukilteo ferry dock, the Herald of Everett reported.

The woman spotted the money just as fellow ferry workers were beginning to load one of the ferries earlier this month, ferries spokeswoman Marta Coursey told the paper. The woman turned the money in to her supervisor, who called police.

Mukilteo police found the rightful owner, a 65-year old Clinton man, and returned the cash to him.

"All he said was he lost money in a bag while waiting to board the ferry.....and didn't notice until he got home," Mukilteo police reported to the Herald.

Reports of found money are less common than cases of lost money, Officer Colt Davis said.

"It does happen....there's some good people out there who turn money in." Davis told the Herald.
