Overnight shooting leaves Belltown businesses damaged

SEATTLE — An escalating argument led to gunfire which damaged businesses early Sunday morning in Belltown.

Witnesses told Seattle police there was an argument between a pedestrian and a passing car around 2:30 a.m. on the 220 block of 3rd Avenue.

They said the argument escalated and the car drove onto the sidewalk toward the shooter. That person jumped out-of-the-way and fired at the car as it drove away.

Several businesses were struck by bullets. Police said they found ten shell casings from a handgun in the area.

Both the shooter and the car fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
