OLYMPIA -- A woman cleaning out her garage unexpectedly found a 6 to 8-inch long pipe bomb yesterday.

At 10:09 a.m. Monday, Olympia police received calls of a woman discovering a possible explosive device at her home in the 2800 block of Langridge Loop NW.

Officers called to the scene spoke with the woman, who said she was doing a bit of summer cleanup when when she found a "metallic looking device" in one of her cabinets.

Police took a look and said the device was 6 to 8 inches long with caps on both ends and a fuse. Investigators determined it resembled a pipe bomb, and secured it in a safe area outside the home.
