OLYMPIA — A woman cleaning out her garage unexpectedly found a 6 to 8-inch long pipe bomb yesterday.
At 10:09 a.m. Monday, Olympia police received calls of a woman discovering a possible explosive device at her home in the 2800 block of Langridge Loop NW.
Officers called to the scene spoke with the woman, who said she was doing a bit of summer cleanup when when she found a “metallic looking device” in one of her cabinets.
Police took a look and said the device was 6 to 8 inches long with caps on both ends and a fuse. Investigators determined it resembled a pipe bomb, and secured it in a safe area outside the home.
The Washington State Patrol Bomb Unit was then called to the home and disposed of the apparent pipe bomb.
Officers are not sure how the device got there, or how long it was in the garage. They are investigating the incident.
