More than 700 lightning strikes reported across Western Washington since Monday

SEATTLE –  Hundreds of lightning bolts struck all across Western Washington Monday night.

Q13 FOX News Meteorologist Parella Lewis estimates more than 700 strikes in the last 24 hours.

The western part of the state remains very dry so a Red Flag Warning for fire danger was issued through 5:00 p.m.

“While the threat of thunderstorms diminishes slightly, it will remain into tomorrow as well,” said Q13 FOX News Meteorologist Tim Joyce.

Most of Wednesday’s thunderstorms will likely be south of Tacoma, in the foothills and Cascades.

“Drier, more typical summer weather returns on Thursday and looks to last through the weekend with more seasonal high temperatures of 75-85,” said Joyce.

Joey Goldman had quite a shock trying to capture video of the lightning.

"I'm pretty sure sure I felt the static from the railing of my porch," wrote Goldman.  "Felt like a Taser. It was a shock."



One strike happened during a live report by Q13 FOX News reporter James Lynch.

Lynch said he and his crew were tracking the storm closely and knew it was moving away from their location so they believed they were in no real danger despite the strike making for some dramatic moments on live television.
