Downtown Transit Tunnel to close Saturday morning

SEATTLE - Commuters looking for buses and trains that normally run through the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel will need to look above ground Saturday morning.

The tunnel will be closed to trains and buses for about six hours Saturday morning, while officials conduct operational tests for the planned 2016 opening of the University Link light rail expansion.

The tests will run from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Northbound Link light rail service will stop at the SODO station. To connect riders, Link Shuttle Route 97 buses will operate between the tunnel stations and the SODO station.

Bus routes that normally operate in the tunnel will use surface streets during the testing.
