Missing 14-year-old girl found with 60-year-old man, taken to hospital

SNOHOMISH COUNTY -- A missing 14-year-old girl was found early Thursday morning in Lynnwood in the company of a 60-year-old man.

The 14-year-old who went missing about noon Wednesday, was found in Lynnwood in the 19800 block of 44th Avenue West at a Grocery Outlet store.

Workers called police after they recognized the girl as missing, and she was seen in the candy aisle. She allegedly told employees she was with her "grandpa" and wasn't missing.

The girl has a developmental disability and reportedly has the mental capacity of a younger child, police said.

Police were called and she was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center, though she did not appear to be injured, police said.

The girl was found with a 60-year-old man, who was taken into custody by police for an outstanding warrant.

The relationship between the man and girl is unknown at this time, officials said

The girl left her home at the 500 block of D Avenue around noon, indicating that she would ride her bike to a friend’s house.  She did not arrive at that destination, the sheriff’s office said.

Family members searched for her for three hours and then called to report the girl missing.  Snohomish Police Department conducted an area search.  After several hours of unsuccessful searching, the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit was called in.
