Police: Three teens carjack man at gunpoint, crash fleeing cops

SEATTLE -- Three teens, ages 13 to 15, were arrested after approaching a man in his car and car-jacking him at gunpoint, Seattle police said.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, three teens, ages 13,14, and 15, approached a man parking his car in the Roosevelt neighborhood. According to the Seattle Police Department, one of the teens pointed a gun at the man and demanded his car keys and cellphone.

The suspects then jumped into the car and drove off.

The car and suspects were found around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of 23rd Avenue and East Fir Street in the Central District neighborhood.

The suspects, still in the car, attempted to flee but crashed the car near the intersection of 31 Avenue and South Judkins Street, police said.

Following the crash, officers arrested one suspect, but the other two ran away. K9 officers were brought in and the other two suspects were found nearby and arrested.

No one was seriously injured.

A handgun, possibly the one used in the robbery, was found in the car.

All three suspects were booked into the King County Youth Service Center for investigation of robbery.
