Documents: Man arrested for sexual assault of 8-year-old claims hundreds of encounters with children

CENTRALIA -- A man arrested for allegedly abusing a 8-year-old girl in a Centralia trailer told police he previously had contact with hundreds of children between the ages of 5 and 10 and they "like him" because he helps them "explore" their sexuality, Lewis County court documents show.

Robert Kinney, 62, was charged last month for first-degree child rape for allegedly molesting a 8-year-old girl in 2012 at his Centralia trailer.  Kinney is expected to plead guilty to some charges soon, Lewis County prosecutors told Q13 FOX News.

According to county prosecutors, a 10-year-old girl recently came forward to her school counselor in Centralia, telling them she was raped by Kinney two years ago.

Upon investigation, Kinney denied the allegations, but allegedly admitted some incidental genital touching may have occurred while the two were "goofing around" at his trailer in the 1200 block of S. Tower Avenue in Centralia, court documents allege.

During the investigation, Kinney allegedly told detectives that since he was 20, children enjoyed his company because he helped them "explore" their sexuality. "Generations" of kids have touched him and undressed in front of him, Kinney allegedly claimed.

Kinney, a Vietnam war veteran, has previous convictions for indecent exposure and drunk driving. Following his statements, he was arrested and placed into Lewis County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
