Missing mom's body found off remote Oregon road; no foul play suspected

YAMHILL COUNTY -- Searchers found the body of missing Oregon mom Jennifer Huston near her parked SUV on a remote forest road Tuesday afternoon, KPTV reported.

Newberg-Dundee police said there was nothing to indicate foul play.

KPTV tweeted that searchers found her SUV around 1:49 p.m.

The SUV was discovered near Sheridan, Ore. The license plate is a match to Huston's. Police announced they discovered her body about 50 yards from the vehicle.

"We're keeping an open mind, but I think we've got a pretty good idea of what happened," Capt. Jeff Kosmicki of the Newberg-Dundee police said at a news conference.

Kosmicki said it wasn't immediately clear how long the SUV was at that site and he couldn't confirm if any items of interest were found in or around the vehicle.

Kosmicki said it also wasn't clear if Huston's phone had been recovered yet. Police previously reported that her cell phone signal was lost about an hour after she was last seen on July 24.

He said the road the SUV was found on is about five to seven miles off Highway 18 and at least an eighth of a mile from the nearest home.

"It doesn't appear to be a crash that caused this," Kosmicki said.

Huston left her home, where she lived with her husband and two children, and was last seen Thursday at 5:45 p.m., going to the Oregon First Community Credit Union in Newberg about three miles away and then to a nearby Circle K gas station on Portland Road.

Police said she spent less than $40 at the gas station, so they believe she was topping off the tank. She withdrew less than $100 from the credit union ATM.

Police said she also stopped at Rite Aid. Detectives released a surveillance image from that store of Jennifer Huston in hopes it would lead to additional clues in this case.
