Man, woman shot on Beacon Hill; one victim seriously injured with chest wound

SEATTLE -- A man and woman were shot and seriously wounded at 38th Avenue South and South Cambridge Street in the Beacon Hill neighborhood Tuesday night, police said.

One of the victims suffered a life-threatening wound to the chest, police said, and the other has a serious but non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the buttocks.

When police arrived shortly after receiving reports of gunfire around 7 p.m., but were unable to find any victims. Witnesses told polcie that two victims had left the scene and headed to Harborview Medical Center.

Witnesses said that before the shooting, the two victims had argued with a man, who had opened fire, striking both victims.

Witnesses described the gunman as a 6-foot black male wearing a black jacket with white lettering on the back. He may have fled the scene in a tan sedan.
