Marines drop in -- literally -- to visit Seahawks practice field

RENTON, Wash. -- A group of Marines dropped into Lake Washington from helicopters, then came ashore to visit the Seahawks at their practice field Thursday.

It was an exciting moment for the players, who welcomed the Marines to the shoreline.

This was one of the Marines' top reconnaissance teams. Their job is to quietly move into an area and secure it, using their highly skilled technique and training.

"Being a native, native from Kent, Washington, and a huge Seahawks fan, it's awesome to show what we do as Marines, to the fans of the team and to the 12th man as well," said Marine Capt. Alissa Tarsiuk.

"They train hard at what they do to be really good. You know, obviously they're Super Bowl champs, and we try to do the same in our line of work," she said. "You know there's a lot of hard training."

Afterward, the Marines got a chance to meet and talk with some of the Seahawks players and get a few autographs, as well.

It wasn't just the Marines showing their stuff for the Hawks Thursday -- the Navy's premier flying team, the Blue Angels, flew their F-18s over the Seahawks practice field, to the delight of the fans who turned out to watch the players.

You may have seen, or heard, the roar of those jets as they soared over the city.

Don't forget -- the I-90 bridge will close for the next three days from 12:15 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. for the Blue Angels' practices and performances over the weekend.
