Men go on robbery spree near light rail station, fire gunshots into air

SEATTLE — Police are looking for two men who fired guns into the air following armed robberies of a young girl and a woman near the Columbia City Light Rail.

Police said a 13-year-old girl and a 21-year-old woman were walking off the light rail station in the 5000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday when two masked men ran up behind them, flashed guns and demanded the victims’ purses. The victims complied and the two suspects ran off on Dawson Avenue.

Just moments later, a 50-year-old man who had just gotten off the train and was talking on his cellphone told police the he was also approached by two men with guns. But the man believed the guns were fake, and scolded the suspects for interrupting the phone call, police said.

The suspects, their egos undoubtedly hurting, climbed into a silver vehicle with large chrome rims and fired two shots into the air before speeding away.

No one was injured in the incident.

The multiple victims described the suspects as black males between 16-and-20 years old, 5’2″ and wearing hooded sweatshirts. Both men pulled their t-shirts up to cover their faces during their encounter with victims.

Police and robbery detectives are investigating the incidents. Anyone with more information is encouraged to call 911.

When light rail was first proposed we know it would be just “one more coach to get mugged on”. Are these crimes a surprise to the liberals of Seattle.
