Welcome back: Mariners get Morales in trade with Twins

SEATTLE -- Welcome back, Kenrdys. What took you so long?

The Mariners acquired First Baseman and DH Kendrys Morales in a trade to the Minnesota Twins Thursday for pitcher Stephen Pryor in an attempt to add strength to the team's struggling offense, the Seattle Mariners said.

Morales played for the Mariners last year, leading the team with a .277 batting average and 80 RBIs. But he refused to sign with the Mariners in the off-season, agreeing instead to a deal with Minnesota in June.

The team hopes Morales will add some pop to the struggling offense, with the team ranked as one of the worst in the American League in nearly every offensive category.

Morales is owed about $4.7 million for the remaining 63 games of the 2014 season.
