Charges: Man stabbed wife 25 times upon learning of her affair

KENT -- A 41-year-old faces charges of second-degree murder for allegedly killing his wife by stabbing her more than 20 times after he learned of her extra-marital affair.

Telesforo Hernandez-Roa allegedly stabbed and killed his wife, Ruth Castillo-Yanez, on July 20 in Kent. He was arrested and is in jail on $2 million bail.

According to King County Superior Court charging documents, Hernandez-Roa contacted police in the late night hours of July 20 near the intersection of 50th Avenue South and South Alaska Street to tell them he and his wife were involved in an altercation at the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride.

When police asked if the wife was hurt, Hernandez-Roa allegedly responded "I think she is dead," documents show.

Police called to the park and ride found Catillo-Yanez deceased and covered with blood in her Nissan Pathfinder. Hernandez-Roa was arrested and requested an attorney. While in custody, Hernandez-Roa allegedly told police he had just found out his wife was cheating on him, and the man who she was cheating on him with sent Hernandez-Roa's naked pictures of his wife.

During an investigation, Catillo-Yanez's sister and two daughters told police their mother was last known out with Hernandez-Roa, and that they had all received calls through the evening indicating she was afraid.

A later examination off the park and ride, police allegedly found Hernandez-Roa's clothes soaked in blood.

If convicted of murder, Hernandez-Roa faces up to 20 years in prison.
