Police: Man pulled knife, went on homophobic rant

SEATTLE -- Police arrested a knife-wielding man who allegedly attacked two people inside a grocery store while in the midst of a homophobic rant Wednesday morning.

According to the Seattle Police Department, two women were shopping at the QFC at Broadway and E. Pike around 1 a.m. when the suspect began leering at them. The suspect allegedly told one of the woman she was "very sexy," causing the women's friend to step in and tell him to be more respectful.

The suspect allegedly grew angry at the women's comment and pulled a knife on the couple. The suspect allegedly made several homophobic slurs at the women -- who were gay -- and threatened to cut them before fleeing the store.

Police called to the scene spotted the man, who was allegedly carrying two knives, on the street and arrested him.  He was booked into King County Jail for suspicion of a hate crime.
