Report: Casey Kasem's body now in Canada

MONTREAL -- The body of late DJ Casey Kasem has been transported to Canada in the midst of a bizarre family feud that has raged since before the radio star's death earlier this year.

According to BBC.com, Kasem's body was moved to Montreal in an attempt by Jean Kasem, his wife, to keep control of the body, as Kerri Kasem, his daughter, tried to keep the body in Tacoma.

The move is the latest in the string of bizarre events performed by the dueling family following his death. Although the 89-year-old passed away more than a month ago, on June 15 he was yet to be buried.

For some time, according to Danny Deraney, the publicist for Kasem’s daughter Kerri Kasem, the family didn't know where Kasem’s body was.

When they did discover the body was in Tacoma, Kerri Kasem attempted to keep it there. However, it was allegedly moved by Jean Kasem in an attempt to remain in control. Now the body is at an undisclosed funeral home in Canada.

Discord between Kasem’s wife of more than 30 years, Jean Kasem, and his adult children from his first marriage led to multiple legal clashes and court hearings in the months before to Kasem died.

Kerri Kasem was given a conservatorship over her father’s health, which Jean Kasem subsequently fought in court, claiming his children were prematurely ending their father’s life.

Before Kasem’s passing, Jean Kasem removed her ailing husband from a care facility in Santa Monica, Calif., and took him on a cross-country car journey to stay at a home of family friends in Washington.
