Oil soaked towels from spa spontaneously combust, cause $10-thousand in damage at laundromat
SEATTLE – Towels used in a spa and soaked with massage oils are being blamed for a fire at a Fremont laundromat early Monday morning reported Q13FOX News.
Seattle Fire investigators said someone called 911 around 2:00 a.m. to report they could see flames from a commercial Laundromat near Fremont Ave N and North 43rd St.
Fire crews arrived on the scene quickly and got the fire under control within 20 minutes.
The fire was contained to a west wall and a small section of ceiling.
“The fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was spa towels with oils that when heated caused a spontaneous combustion,” read a line in a post about the fire on the department’s blog.
No one was hurt, but the fire caused roughly $10,000 in damages to the laundromat.
