CHENEY, Wash --  It was a good night for crews fighting a wildfire near Spokane.

Washington Department of Natural Resources said the Watermelon Hill fire had not grown over night because the night crew had been able to hold the fire.

That fire has burned some 11,000 acres east of Cheney.

The fire is 40% contained and has some 300 firefighters working fully contain it.

Mandatory evacuations remain in place for the Fish Trap Lake resort.
