Baseball GM vows to get prostate exam during game if 10-year-old with cancer gets 10,000 Facebook fans
MYRTLE BEACH, SC – A minor league baseball team in South Carolina wants to help a 10-year-old girl gain 10-thousand fans on Facebook.
They are doing it to raise awareness about cancer.
But how they are doing it has people both laughing and crying.
ESPN.com reports the team GM Andy Milovich has offered to get a prostate exam in front of a full stadium of fans.
So where does 10-year-old Fallon Emery figure in to this stunt?
Milovich said if Emery gets 10,000 fans on Facebook by Thursday night he’ll get the exam whiling singing ‘Take Me Out To the Ball Game.’
Emery is fighting brain cancer and using Facebook to share her fight publicly.
Milovich told ESPN.com if the stunt means even one person gets checked out and gets treatment early for cancer it will be worth it.
As for those wondering about exactly how the actual exam will work during the game?
“It’s not like I would be getting it at home plate,” Milovich told ESPN.com. “I’ll likely do it from our radio booth and the fans will see me from the shoulder up.”
