KITTITAS, Wash -- Eastbound I-90 east of Ellensburg was reopened at about 3 p.m. Friday.

Department of Transportation officials shut down the road Thursday due to terrible visibility and dangerous conditions.

WSDOT said the highway had been closed from exit 115 near Kittitas to milepost 136 near Vantage.

A detour was in place and takes drivers off I-90 at exit 115 to the Old Vantage Highway.

Winds of about 40 mph remain in the forecast and traffic volumes are expected to increase for the weekend.

Officials will be monitoring the area closely all weekend.
