Relief! Cooler weather arrives in the Puget Sound

SEATTLE -- Overnight those marine layer clouds sneaked in through coast range passes and up river valleys to fill in parts of the Puget Sound and Willamette Valley. It's nature's air conditioning ending our long heat wave, which for Seattle was the third longest in the city's history. The good news is we're not done with summer just yet-- Mother Nature just turning down the thermostat a bit likely about ten degrees off yesterday's afternoon highs west of the Cascades.

TODAY we'll see clouds burn off gradually for nice afternoon sunshine. High temps about 75-80 for Seattle/Puget Sound. Tonight those clouds return overnight lows in the 50-55 range.

TOMORROW also looks to be a nice day. Clouds to sun, high temps about 75-80 for most of the I-5 corridor.

THE WEEKEND is still looking cooler and there is a weak front dropping in from Alaska. This looks to fizzle even the associated rain showers reach Seattle-- so there is a chance for a few showers north of Tacoma. Otherwise the weakening front will just make it very difficult for the summer sun to battle back the clouds. Highs both SATURDAY and SUNDAY look to be 65-75. High temperatures are directly tied to when those clouds burn off.

NEXT WEEK we're talking about clouds starts and cooler temperatures compared to this week. We're looking at highs in the 70s instead of the 80s. Enjoy!
