Brush fire forces closure of I-90 near Vantage
VANTAGE, Wash. – A brush fire kept coming back to life and forcing officials to close lanes of I-90 east of Ellensburg Tuesday and Tuesday night.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Darren Wright said brush and a motorhome were on fire at milepost 126 near the Vantage Bridge.
It is possible the fire in the RV may have sparked the brush fire.
A WSDOT traffic camera in the area showed empty lanes and smokey conditions.
At one point in the afternoon, I-90 was reopened.
But the fire came back to life Tuesday night and forced the closure of I-90 again between Exit 115 and the Columbia River.
Late Tuesday night, the State Patrol was preparing to reopen the westbound lanes of I-90.
