Witnesses chase down, catch suspected convenience store robber

SEATTLE -- Two witnesses chased down a suspected convenience store robber Friday in the Northgate area.

Detectives say the man walked into the store on the 10700 block of 5th Ave NE around 7:00 p.m. He had a shirt pulled over his face and flashed a knife at the store owner.

Police say the suspect demanded money, and the store owner gave him change from the register. The suspect told him he wanted the cash next, but he got scared when customers entered the store and took off on foot.

Police say two witnesses chased after the suspect and held him until officers arrived.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail.
