SALT LAKE CITY -- A Frontier Airlines flight had to be diverted to Salt Lake City after lightning struck the plane, according to the Denver Post.

A Frontier spokesperson told the newspaper that the plane's weather radar was damaged.

The flight was headed for Sea-Tac, but could not return to Denver without a radar system because of bad weather.

The plane was hit around 6:50 p.m Friday and made a U-turn to get to Salt Lake, the Post reported.

The flight was delayed for several hours as crews repaired the plane.
