HITACHI, Japan – One jean maker is going to great lengths to get that truly distressed look for its denim.

Zoo Jeans are jeans that have literally been ripped apart by lions, tigers and bears.

The folks behind the brand are wrapping new denim around tires and balls and leaving them in the animal enclosures at the Kamine Zoo in Hitachi Japan.

In a video posted on YouTube the animals can be seen tearing into the denim with teeth and claws.

Once the denim is rescued from the animals, designers make jeans out of it.

Those jeans are being auctioned off with proceeds  benefiting the renovation of the zoo itself.

The you can buy a pair and claim at parties that your jeans were literally ripped to shreds by a lion.
