Police: 13-year-old girl sexually assaulted near Seattle's Bitter Lake

SEATTLE -- A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near Bitter Lake Friday afternoon, police said.

The girl told detectives she was listening to music at the park when a man called out her name.  The girl told police she thought she knew the man and walked up to him.

But the man grabbed her, she told police, and dragged her to a secluded area near the water and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was able to escape and fled to the Bitter Lake Community Center for help.  She was taken to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation.

The suspect was last seen leaving the park along Bitter Place North.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 40 years old, with a heavy build.
