Report: Man let out 'karate-like battle cry' before kicking police horse

PORTLAND -- A man allegedly let out a "karate-like battle cry" before jump kicking a horse in the right thigh recently in Portland, KPTV reports.

According to KPTV, a group of mounted patrol police men were talking to a group of people near Northwest Sixth Avenue and Northwest Hoyt Street when Joseph Cruz, 29, allegedly ran up behind the officers and jump-kicked a horse in its right thigh.

Olin, the horse, wasn't hurt, KPTV reports.

Cruz had an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody. He faces charges of interfering with a law enforcement animal.
