'LOST MY JOB!' First man to buy legal weed in Spokane says he was fired after being on the news

SPOKANE -- The first man to buy legal recreational marijuana in Spokane says he lost his job after his employer saw him on the news, KREM reported. Michael Boyer was at the front of the line Tuesday at Green Leaf in North Spokane.

KXLY reports Boyer was featured on every TV station in Spokane. He camped out overnight, waited for the store to open and bought a gram of weed.

Boyer said his employer wanted him to take and pass a drug test by Thursday.

"I just got my marijuana legally there and I came back and started smoking," Boyer told KXLY. "As soon as we got started, I got a message from my employer saying 'You gotta come down here and take a UA.'"

Kodia Security told local media that Boyer was still an employee, but Boyer says he lost two of his three part-time jobs because of his purchase.

Boyer decided to post his resume on Craigslist with his claim to fame, titled "LOST MY JOB! still #1 tho!! (spokane)"

I lost my job due to the news coverage of me being the FIRST PERSON TO BUY MARIJUANA LEGALLY IN SPOKANE! I regret nothing. But now im jobless and have decided to post my resume here. Thanks for reviewing it.

So what will he do next?

"Maybe I can spin this and get a job in the marijuana industry," Boyer told KXLY. "It's a new industry, they need qualified people."
