Geez, package thief steals even the Mace from home burglary victim

SEATTLE -- A Fremont homeowner thought putting up a surveillance camera and ordering Mace might help protect his family since he was burglarized twice in the past six months.

But when he came home recently expecting to find his delivery of the self-defense spray, it was gone.

He checked the video and saw why.  A thief had stolen his UPS package from right off the porch of his Woodland Park Avenue North home.

The crook circled the area three times, then pulled up in an older model SUV.  He had on a cap with the sticker on the bill and bright, blond hair with a ponytail.

"We got a guy know who has this Mace. Who knows what he intends to do with that? I'm sure he didn't understand what was in the box but now what does he do with it? Maybe it's going to be used in a robbery," said retired Seattle police detective Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound.

If you can tell detectives the name of the package thief, Crime Stoppers will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000. Call 1-800-222-tips.

This case serves as a reminder to never have packages delivered to your home when you are not there unless a neighbor can pick it up for you and hold it until you return.
